Poem a day, Day 10

After (and before) I wrote and sent off a poem for the e-mail group (poem a day challenge for November), I found myself writing a number of others. Not sure I’m done for the night, yet. If you’re interested, you can find days 1 through 9 at my Written Word journal.) The weather is supposed to warm up, tomorrow and Sunday. I’m looking forward to using the exercise bike in the gazebo (with space heater); the indoor elliptical machine seems not worth the bother, even though I know it is. I expect that just the change of scenery makes a difference.

Anyway, the inspiration for the poem is a foggy recollection of a short phrase from an Austen novel.

night sky
fiery blanket of light
a sea of stars

broad enough to span a life
deep enough to hide within
