The Flower

Renates Rose

Memories unfold
enfold
surround
engulf
replace
tomorrows
with yesterdays
with never again

with nothing at all

Note: it had occurred to me, last night, that becoming too involved in memories of past people and events can distract me from being aware of the now and my journey into tomorrow. When I get lost in thought, there is a potential for getting lost in things that no longer matter. Memories are a repository—neither current events nor living room furniture.

  1. It is easy to get lost in the past – but you are right in your observations, we only have this moment, this day –

    yesterday is history, tomorrow, a mystery, live in now, its a gift – that is why we call it the present!

    1. “…its a gift – that is why we call it the present”? °˖✧◝(⁰∇⁰)◜✧˖° ::LAUGHTER:: Thank you!

      As a writer/reader, I expect I spend much more time in my head than’s good for me!?!

  2. I’ve been getting lost in thought, too, but in my case it’s what might have been, can still be, and needs to be. I’m not sure how much of an improvement that is. I’m planning for the future, but the future is no more “now” than the past is. {odd smile}
