Poetry 101 Rehab: Hiatus

Poetry 101 Rehab, hosted by Andy Townend
Prompt: Hiatus

“Aromas of Summer”

Toxic fumes drift through the yard on laundry days
and Independence Day, illegal fireworks and airborne metals.
Backyard fires and outdoor cooking scent the air.
Haze and clouds of smoke from another country dim the sun.

My thoughts and words?
On summer hiatus.
