    1. The photograph, of course, was taken first. I got a whole raft of them, that morning, and started cropping for closeups. When the prompt, Thaw, showed up, I thought immediately of that collection of photos from May 2010 to illustrate/complement the poem that came to mind. Took a while to locate them. I’ve 12 years of digital photos to go through, now. 🙂 So happy that you like the poem!

      I’ve got a reputation for writing short poetry. The year my poem “Endings” was nominated for the Rhysling Award [didn’t win], it also was in the Dwarf Stars nominees chapbook for best SF poems 10 lines or fewer written in 2009 [didn’t win that, either].
